WOW!! Holy crap!! The M5 beat the SLk 32 in 0-60 times!!
My guess for 0-60 would have been the SLK 32, but nevertheless VERY impressed with the Beast

Jason,

Thanks for the preview! I'm impressed that they got the speed so fast on the M5 -- those are the lowest that I've ever seen. Of course, we all know better than to rely upon magazine numbers, but they're still a decent guide, even if it's MotorTrend. Regardless, I'll be picking up that issue!

Wow, sound slike a great article, I think I am going to have to stop by Border's tommorrow. Does anyone know when it will hit the new's stands? Motor Trend always has very quick numbers, I would hate to see what the clutch looks like on the M5 after those numbers .

Wow, I am impressed.. The fact that the SLK32 has such a great power to weight ratio, it still couldn't beat our beast!! Lock-up torque converter, still no replacement for the good ol' manual tranny!

I have never believed the stories about how fast the SLK32 AMG is. I raced two SLK32's in a two day period over winter break in my S52 M coupe (with mods ~265-270 hp), and was dead even both times.

Rocket the SLK32 does not have a lockup torque converter like
the C32 to my knowledge also the gearing is amazingly long for
first gear since the back basically weighs nothing.

On the other hand GO M5 !!!!

Ya know what i'm damn happy if I can somewhat keep up with
you guys hehee NOW WHY DIDN'T THEY HAVE A C32 IN THERE Weep Weep Weep !

The speed figures are indeed impressive - but to me speed is EASIER to come by than handling - especially in a 4000lb sedan that rides like a luxury car.

I am more proud of that fact that the M5 bested every Mercedes in the slalom - THAT is a real feat. That the M3 and M Roadster were even better - well they OUGHT to be. But SO should the CLK55 cab and the SLK32 - and they are NOT.

I LOVE MY M5!

That just confirms what we all believed, that the M5 is the best sedan in the world. I'm really impressed at the stopping distance (117 ft) and the acceleration numbers of the X5 4.6is, those are some serious numbers for a SUV!
