Help! How to remove shifter cup without the cup removing tool?

Hi all,
I decided to do my 545 shifter today on the ///M, everything went real smooth until I am about to remove the shifter, I don't have the BMW cup removing tool, is there anyway I can remove it without the tool or I just have to put everything back and order one?

thanks,

Ping

Yeah I tried the two flat head screw driver trick and it didn't budge, I put everything back already and unless someone has one that I can borrow I guess I would just have to buy one.

If it does not move out of the support arm, turn it with the screwdriver clockwise and pull on the lever.Sometimes it is a bit tricky, but works! After that if you want it off the ball, rest it upside dowm with the bushing on a bench vice and push the lever out.

Have done it many times that way and never used a special tool for it.

I used a needle nose pliers opened up to contact the two raised tabs and had no problem turning the bushing until it woul pull out.

I also used the needle nosed pliers. It was one of the easiest parts of the job for me.

Cool I will try that this weekend, I have already ordered a new bushing so if I can't get it out I will just slowly taking it apart.

Do you guys remember if it was counterclockwise or clockwise from inside the car? Thanks!
