My 2000 car had its first new thermostat at around 100,000 miles. Fair enough. She's now done nearly 125,000 miles and it's just gone again. (I think). Surely 25,000 miles is too short a lifespan for such a basic device?!
For the record, I noticed last week on a motorway run that the needle was a smidge to the left of normal. I went into the hidden menu and sure enough she was running at 78 degrees. As soon as I got back into London, she warmed up and stayed there. No panic I thought - I'll just get her up to Phil in the next few weeks.
On a normal run from Battersea to Victoria, she normally warms up completely (on the gauges at least). Yesterday and today the water didn't go above 60 degrees on the same run. It seems to have died almost completely already. This seems to me, to have happened rather quickly, or maybe I have another fault.....??
Any thoughts most welcome!
