Where to tap into iBus?

Okay, I've done a bit of searching, but this will be faster. Where, besides the trunk, can I get an iBus connection? Got my USB interface, time to play. I'd like to be able to more permanently mount it for poking around.

I saw the trunk/changer connector, and read up on the one by the LCM bundle behind the glovebox. The LCM bundle just seems like trouble waiting to happen as people have used t-splice connectors for the Stealthone. Eek.

Anywhere else a bit more reachable?

The LCM is a very easy location to get to, and takes maybe 5-10 minutes to tap and replace the glove box. I can't imagine there's a much easier spot besides the trunk. Should have no problems splicing into it.

I wanted to avoid the t-splice/scotchlok method. I'd rather repin something to an adapter that I built. Seemed to me (from the pictures) that getting into the LCM wiring bundle would be much more difficult for this method. Guess I'll stick with reworking the CD changer.

Does the phone have an ibus interface? If so, do cars without the phone have the wiring for ibus in the armrest?

Thats what I was going to suggest. Although based on your question Im assuming your car isnt prewired for a phone. If thats the case then I dunno if you can hack into that in your arm rest. Def worth a look tho.

If you get there let me know cause Id love an easier way myself.

behind the glove box there are many splice points. i believe there is one for the ibus, but you will have to check wds to be sure.

Just curious, but why would you go through the trouble of repinning some existing connection? Just don't like using a t-splice?

Easiest place is the center console, especially if you ditched the Startac, you can modify the phone's harness to use with your ibus interface. In my harness repin, the wires are as follows: White/Grey = ibus, Orange = +12v, Brown = Ground

If you don't have the Startac-side wire harness, just use that pinout to find the appropriate wire on the vehicle-side

That's the answer I want. Two questions:
1) does this wiring exist if I didn't have the phone option (like my car)?
2) if it does exist, or I want to go looking, whereabouts in the center console?

It should be there, underneath your armrest.

Two phillips screws hold your factory armrest in place (pop out rear passenger cubbyhole, pop out rear passenger A/C vent). Underneath, where the storage compartment SHOULD be, will be the plug. It may be tucked / recessed.
