My rear fenders need to be rolled..tires rub

What kind of wheel set up do you have? Stock should not rub...

Some stock wheels have been known to rub with a lot of weight in the back. BMW should have "rolled" all the M5 rear fender lips but thats one more thing they left to us. Just get it done asap if you experience any rub. If you wait it wrecks tires. Just make sure whoever does it has done it before.

I had that problem...took it to BMW they took care of it, and I got free rear tires in the process.

I promise that your dealership will know nothing of it, but have them call the regional tech and they will approve it...doesn't look like new, but it's better than nothing.

I believe this issue is now in the BMW Service Bulletin. Basically, like others have said, driving aggressively with a full load in the rear, may cause the tires to rub into the wheel well and "unroll" the lip. It will cause notchings in th tires. Dealer should roll the lip back and provide two new rear tires.

Under HArd acceleration with passangers

I think the roads in boston are terrible to drive on with passagers and under the right circumstance the tires will hit the inside of the fender. I just want to get the rears rolled because I am putting new tires on the week..to be on the safe side. I had another friend who had the same probem.

BAD ROads+PAssagers+Accelerating hard= sliced up tires

Actually--at least in the case of my 2000 Beast--BMW did roll the fender lips. They may, however, need to be rolled some more. And from everything else I've seen posted here in the past, it is performed as warranty work.

On my pre-Beast (98 540i/6), a switch in tires necessitated having the fenders rolled. Ironically, despite being the exact same size tires from the same manufacuturer, the sidewall "tallness" varied from model to model. [I went from 245/40-18 BFG Comp T/A ZRs to BFG g-Force KDs. Absolutely SICK dry traction, BTW. ]

When I got the Beast and read about fender rubbing on this board, I compared the rear fender lips. Indeed, my M5's had been rolled at the factory.

Talk to your service rep, and call in the regional rep if need be.

I had to do mine as well, because l had gone upto 285s on the rear. After the lower suspension and 285s was together l went and gave it a test, hit a bump mid corner and felt a hit in the rear, only to find a 2 foot slice it the last block/row of rubber.....dam
I've got 4 people in the car next week, so it had to be done. I didn't want to lift up the suspension up any higher, as l'm really happy with the look now.
