DINAN said NO supercharger for M5?!?!

I went to my mechanic the other day (Motorworks West/Dinan dealer) to change my oil and he told me that he spoke with Dinan very recently and there will most likley be no supercharger available for the E39 M5.

He told me Dinan said that, "we believe we can get more hp going NA ". He said that within the next two months we are going to see some new and major modifications available for our Beast. Mods similiar to those of Nowack.

I have heard these Dinan tales for a long time, has anyone else heard anything??

I spoke to Dave at Motorworks West last month and I thought that he said it was still a green light on the Supercharger. I wanted to get another fix of an upgrade as it has been about a year since I have gotten something. Dave did tell me about some headers that were coming out soon and I think there was mention of a new larger throttle body. He told me he would call once something new came out.

Either way, I'm just eager to see what other goodies come out.

Hi Joe!

Yea, Dave said no go! Several problems with the SC and the M5 so they are going to go NA. Wich is OK because we can always later add the supercharger!

I agree, they HAVE TO come out with something that gives us REAL power!!

Where in NJ are you if you don't mind me asking?? I think I may have seen your car in Ramsey not to long ago.

I live close to the Morgan Hill Dinan shop (where Steve Dinan lives and works). Was there last week and saw the Supercharger. Also, the headers are to die for. It looked to me like they are serious about designing performance parts for the M5, and will be introducing them sometime this year. They quoted performance numbers, but no release date.

I've got to believe that the parts will deliver tons of power at a huge price.

Hey Harry,

I'm from the Fort Lee area. I don't remember when was the last time I was in Ramsey though. Paramus quite a bit and the Fort Lee area. The car has only really been out about 4-5 times in the last month. I drive the 540 on a daily basis until June when I return it. Then the M5 will take it's spot everyday.

One of my best friends made it to that last area meeting they had in NJ I just couldn't make it that day. Hopefully I will make the next one and get to put some names and faces together in the area.

That's my wifes B-day. We're creeping up on 30. You know, getting old.

It's funny you say that. We have been thinking of moving out west to your are or north to like Norwood or Rockleigh. Wanna switch? Best of Luck. Maybe we'll run into each other.

So no Dinan supercharger huh ? interesting... I thought they should be almost finished with it because i believe they have been working it for some time now. Oh well.... RMS then is the way to go if you want serious power and reliability

Black M5,

Has RMS given you any idea how much the kit they are developing for your car will cost when they start marketing it?

my understanding as of a couple weeks ago from the high performance rep at Dinan's Mountain View location, Jeff Hecox, is that Dinan is currently working on and will release a supercharger for the E39 M5.

no specific dates, no specific numbers. he did mention that steve dinan's personal M5 has over 470hp - not sure if that's with a supercharger or with some other method.

well, I wish that Dinan would just come out with something new, anything, for our cars... oh yeah, and hopefully the new upgrades would give us gobs of power at a cheap price...

(yeah, that's my wishful thinking )

Cerberus,

Well i asked them that question some time back and they said a stage II would cost 12~14 grand. Its not final and i doubt that the clutch is included. But it will be a staright forward process as soon as they are done with my car. Infact they told me (as i mentioned on the other thread) that an M5 owner from Cali has put a deposit down to be the first get it installed after it is done.
