Hi guys,

I'm new here. I spend a lot of time over at Maxima.org (I have a 2k infiniti i30) and I'm becoming convinced that my next car will be an M5.

I'm curious, I tried searching but didn't find anything -- are there any plans that you're aware of for an M5x? An all wheel drive version of the GODLY m5?

Just wondering.

Not that i ahve heard of. Not for a while down the road at least...

I know I would buy one if it became an option! But then again, I would buy any M5 if I could afford it!

As the hp race continues, I wouldnt be surprised to see a AWD M5 down the road..

I think they will make a M3x long before they would do an AWD M5.... Besides, the M philosophy always called for front engine rear wheel drive cars..

Doubtful that they'll ever make one. They don't have a 540Xi right now -- expect to see that before an M5. Terrence is right -- an AWD M3 is more likely than an AWD M5. But both are pretty unlikely anytime in the foreseeable future.

AWD and 4WD create a lot of driveability problems, especially with high performance cars (see discussions about M5 vs RS6). I suggest you decide what you want and narrow down your choice. Most people never actually need 4WD.

The M5 has such advanced traction control (DSC, ASC+T, etc) that it'll get you out of most everything except major snow & ice.

I think the closest you will get to an M5 with 4-wheel drive is the new 4.6i X5 sport activity vehicle.
