A bit of a weird one, anyone else had similar?

Alright chaps,
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this fault before I try to sort it out.

When driving on the motorway at about 70 - 80mph if I let off the accelerator and let the car coast whilst still in gear it seems to miss-fire with a slight hesitation, as soon as I put the power on it picks up and shifts right through the rev range without missing a beat. I can re-create the fault every time. It only happens when it is on extremely light load, i.e. normal - hard accelerate no issue, lift off and just slightly accelerate issue?

I experimented today and took it on a local motorway that I knew had a few hills, set the cruise at 75mph and let the car drive, going up the hill no issues as power is required, as soon as the car passed the crest of the hill and no power was required it started missing / hesitating, repeated every hill. On one hill as it was hesitating I put my foot down and it picked up immediately and as above reved right thro with no issue.

Its certainly weird as the car drives perfectly around town and under acceleration there are no issues whatsoever.......

Any help is appreciated.

Regards

Mike

Two reasons for your problem.
1. The DME is picking up a fault and therefore not firing 1 or more spark plugs.
2. You have a problem with a spark plug or a coil.

Without a code reader you are shooting in the dark as there are 8 plugs and 8 coils. It is strange that it is missfiring on the over run, could be a valve timing issue which would point towards a CPS going bad. Get a code reader.

Buy a Peake reader. ~ $ 150. and the best investment (after a radar detector) you can make. Otherwise you are in the dark, guessing.
