Don't Bother with BMW Insurance (UK)

A week ago a large stone bounces of a lorry and hits the front screen. Luckily it only damaged the glass and nothing else but that's ok because I have BMW insurance. I call the claims line and get given the number of the authorised glass company (Autowindscreens). I give them a call and tell the lady all my details i.e. auto lights, auto wipers, top tint and I will only except a genuine BMW glass, which is why I pay almost double compared to other companies. She agrees to this but tells me it will take longer to get the screen to the fitting depot. Half an hour later I get a call from said depot and have to give all the details again. So here I am today a week without the car waiting for the fitter who turns up this morning with the WRONG screen. Phone call later I'm told they will try for next Wed/Thurs problem is apart from no car I'm displaying the car at the BMW club national next Sunday, If I have a non genuine screen can be fitted tomorrow. I have a brainwave I phone my local dealer Broadoak, they can have the screen first thing tomorrow (Sat).
Fitting depot agrees to come tomorrow and fit screen but I have to pay for screen as they don't have an account with Broadoak. I give BMW insurance a call just to check I will get my money back, lucky I did. A hour later no way will they reimburse because, you will love this they don't get as much discount using Broadoak. So for the sake of £100 I'm without my car for 2 weeks and if they get it wrong again empty space at the nationals lost payment for hotel and my 2 sons and myself very pi***d off. The next time you see " don't compromise always use genuine BMW parts" it only means if they (BMW) are not paying for it. Sorry for the long ranting post but I am so fed up.

Ugh, certainly not a pleasant way to get your car with the genuine parts that it deserves. Certainly write a registered letter to complain about this situation to whoever is in charge of customer complaints at BMW.

I did duck and swerve, also lucky I had glasses on as the glass splintered inside the car.

If it had hit the body of the car it would have been big bucks and definitely no national day.
