what oil for the tranny with the UUC V12 setup, and what oil for the differential?

i know the UUC has a little bit of chatter from the ltw flywheel. so while i have the tranny out i was going to change the fluid and wanted to know what the rest of you guys are running.

pertaining to the differential, is there any recommended fluid?

thanks

Tranny: I'm still figuring out what to run. I have Royal Purple in it right now and I'm wanting to change it...

Diff: Amsoil Severe Diff

BTW, attached is a really good read on diff oils.

well with the diff i have no issue with oem fluid, i dont see how different fluid could be better then oem.

the reason i ask about the tranny is because the heavier the fluid, the more it will dampen the chatter, but then cold start shifting wont be friendly. while thinner fluid will make shifting easy but not dampen the chatter.

advice?

You live in Dallas. Go high viscousity stuff. Your 'cold shifting' will stil be pretty warm most of the year.
Start-up temperature range is what is important as operating temperature is generally the same (unless tracking)
Exactly the same reason to buy heavier weight oils in hot climates.

If you want thicker fluid for the tranny, don't put Royal Purple in. Comparing Royal Purple Syncromax to AfricaOffroad's suggesting of Castrol Transmax Z, Royal Purple is thicker at 100C, but after reading up on Royal Purple stuff, it seems that Royal Purple products have poor shear stability.

Raza- OEM is 75w-80.

http://www.crpindustries.com/pentosi...idBrochure.pdf

If you want thicker, Amsoil Synthetic MT Lube is 75w-90, but I don't know if it is compatible with our transmission. You probably have a bunch laying around, so maybe you should try it out . I e-mailed Amsoil about compatible fluid for our transmission and they said they didn't have any. But comparing Amsoil trans fluid to the OEM fluids specs, everything looks similar.

AMSOIL - Synthetic Manual Transmission and Transaxle Gear Lube 75W-90 (MTG)

The actual value? No idea. I assume the best way to tell is by looking at recommended temperature ranges on the bottle. Get one that doesnt work well in cold weather. It will be more viscous than one that does.

There is only one way to 100% cure the rattle....use the stock (or dinan flywheel). You can do the Redline 75w140 NS (1.5L) to D4 ATF (.5L) mix, and it will stop the rattle until the gearbox is up to temp in very hot (TX, FL, AZ) climates. Unfortunately, redline tends to make the seals in the gearbox swell. RP syncromax does work fairly well, but does nothing for the rattle, and then there is always LTF MT2 (OEM fill). I've switched to RP, and just learned to live with the rattle....it really isnt that bad.

For the diff, you can use Castrol XJ (factory fill) or M1 75w140 (it has slip additives) and they work very well. I just tried RP Maxgear 75w140, and dont see any real difference from M1 (it even whines just slightly louder than with M1...somethng im not too thrilled about but I'll switch back when Im not feeling so lazy).
