Mounting child seat in middle of rear seat . . .
I have a 20-month old daughter who I carry in a front-facing Britax child seat mounted on the passenger side portion of the rear seat of my 2002 M5. I have heard that it is actually safrer to move the child seat to the center of the seat in case of side impacts but have heard from my wife that it is unwise to mount the seat on a car that has a 60/40 split folding rear seat. My car has the split fold-down seats with ski sack. Does this mean I cannot safely put the seat in the middle? Thanks for your help.

I wouldn't recommend putting the seat in the middle... the rear passenger side is probably the safest place to put a child, with or without a child seat.... At least you have the back of your passenger seat in case anything happens... a cousin of mine was in a car many years ago... they got in an accident and he was sitting in the middle rear seat... he was propelled through the windshield and out of the car.... so I definitely say keep the child seat where it is
