SLK32AMG Faster than M5?

Aol's main screen has a link to the top 10 fastest cars. They listed them in this order.

1. Ferrari 550
2. Aston Martin Vanquish
3. Bentley Continental R
4. BMW Z8
5. Corvette Z06
6. Jaguar XKR 100
7. Lamborghini Murcielago
8. Porsche 911 Turbo
9. Merc SLK32 AMG
10. Dodge Viper

This list is probably not in order from fastest to slowest. Also I agree half the cars on this list are faster than the M5 but what do you guys think about the other half?

I saw this also. Was a bit amazed to see some of the cars they posted up there, SLK32, XKR100. Sorry but what about the Porsche GT2 and M5? Goes to show you how little people know about the M5, all the better for us .

I agree. There are only a handful of cars in the US that are out-the-door with 400+ hp. I think in a couple of years, there will be twice as many. Maybe even three times as many in the 300+ hp club. The horsepower war rages on ...

I live by many rules. Here's one of them:

Whenever I hear something car-related, 9.5 times out of 10 the source knows less about cars than I do- therefore, if my intuition is telling me to disagree, I do.

Yes an slk32 is faster than an m5..albeit not by much..
Most of the magazine results I've seen have clocked them at 13 flat..I think I saw a few 12.9s as well. 350hp in a little roadster To only add to the credibility of those times there's someone from DTM Power who ran a 13.2 in his bonestock c32 (4 door with same engine)..They're definitely nice cars. but no m5:p

Omar,
I have a friend with a Z06 and it is his opinion that the Z8 and the Vette would be nearly a draw. That is from my letting him drive the Z8 a little. His car was in the shop. One day when he has the time we will do a big comparison. One thing is for sure, the Z06 is one hell of a vehicle and probably the best bang for the buck car out there right now.

The Bentley is in the mid 5's to 60. Some yutz there who probably drives a Hyundai to work put this list together. Believe none of what you hear, some of what you read and half of what you see.

The C32's which are actually quicker then the SLK 32's thanks
to a better chassis run normally low 13's with some people
reporting 13 Flat at 110 + MPH. The thing is the C32's will run
these speeds consistently, no it's not an M5 but I still would
not mind running my C32 against an M5.

Personally I think with the correct driver the M5 is quicker but
with $2000 a chipped C32 is running 12.5 on the 1/4 Mile so
watch out for those. A few Renntech C32's are out there now
with 400 + HP + Torque watch out for those they are running
12.0 Flat or lower with a 0-60 in 3.9. Mated with the true lockup
gearbox the efficiency is that of a manual with no chance to mess
up those cars SMOKE !!!!
