M5 Driving Experience?

Origionally, I was going to purchase a new M5. Then They raised the price on me. So, I bought used M5 with 4500 miles. Car was origionaly purchased in March of 2001.

Now I call 1-877-996-5999 to make an Appt for Driving Experience. It says on the recording to have your production number ready. Well I'm thinking, I have a production number still from the New Car I didn't get.

So you probably know where im going with this.

So, Who know the inside and out. Do i say i purchased a used car and the previous owner swears i can go, or do I give em my Production number from the car that i didn't get or do i just say. I can not read where it says under Driving Experience Guidelins:

"Owners who want to make M5 Driving Experience reservations or make changes to their itinerary can call 877-99M-5999 for more information.

This offer is only valid if the customer participates. It is not transferable or redeemable for cash. Non-participation does not affect vehicle price.?"

Well, what would you do

Well, first things first. you MUST go..even if you have to pay the $$$(approx $1200 I think??) I didn't get to make the trip to the Biltmore and factory tour but the day-long driving experience was well worth it.

As for your original question, I'm not sure. I believe that the DE comes with the car and if it has not been used maybe you could use it. Maybe you could ask them without tipping your hand. If they say you are outta luck then you could try the production # route, although that may impact the person who ends up buying the car your dealer screwed you out of.

I would say that you should go regardless.
Good luck

Unless it has changed, you can still participate in the Experience up to one year after initial delivery. Even if you are the second owner.

Call Monday and set something up. I believe that someone on the board called not quite within the one year's time, and they still let him participate.

And you have your serial number, even better than a production number. (And a production number has to be confirmed by your dealer.)

Don't delay. You would miss one of the best times you can imagine.

I bought mine used and I went. When you call the DE number, ask them to fax you an enrollment form. The information called for the name of the dealership, the date of initial delivery, the name of the salesman and the name of the sales manager. There is a slot for the VIN#, but not necessarrily the production number. It will help if the seller can supply you with the above info. listed.

I got the original purchase information form the seller, so I was able to supply the information on the form. The Performance Center just assumed that since I have all the info, I must be the original owner, and they put me in their computer.

So when you call on Monday, just ask them to fax you the enrollment form, don't answer anymore questions. Once you fax back the form, call and ask that they reserve a date for you on the computer. Try to adhere to the 1 year rule if you can.
Once you're in the computer, no one will check again.

Just as everyone said, it is a first classy program, not to be missed. If you have other questions, PM me. Good luck.

Is the date of initial delevery the date on the Drivers Door? You know where vin # is?

Or the date the previous owner took delivery?

The info is great. That will help out tremendously

It's the date the first customer bought the car. In my case, it was a June 2000 car. The owner of the dealership used it (never registered) till November 2000, then sold it. I bough it in April 2001 second hand and attended the DE in October 2001. The initial delivery date was November 2000.

The date stamped on the driver's door is the production month and year of the vehicle.

1) You cannot simply give the procuction number of your now cancelled M5. When one picks up their new M5 at the dealership, the dealership faxes over a separate form to the DE address, and that form has to match the one provided by the customer. So in short, it is not just a six digit access code to a wonderful driving experience.

2If you have a copy of the window stricker, look at the bottom center of it. It says the destination dealership. Contact them and have them fax your entry in to the DE to get going

call them up and be honest with them. you obviously would like to go and you have a M5. if the first owner lied to you then youll have to decide if youd like to pay to go or not. If the first owner is right then its just a matter of figuring out how to dot the "i"s and cross the "t"s - it is well worth your effort. if the person on the phone isnt being helpful, ask to speak with someone else. have your vin handy. Ive found the folks that do the DE to be very flexible and reasonable. Unless you are a track level driver, Id say its worth your time, and the money if you have to, to go.
