UK Owners ! Where can I get a Perfromance Rear Anti Roll Bar (Sway Bar)

Yo Guys,

Where can I get one in the UK right away ?

Anyone bought one recently ?

I wouldnt mind the Dinan adjustable one, but I can't see how that can happen immediately and I am loathed to pay all the fees for an import from the US ! (I dont mind paying the duty but it always seems to work out a lot more)

I like the idea of walking into a shop and buying it over the counter today, or tomorrow !!

Any ideas chaps ? I think CA Automotoive would be good but I get the impression I cant just pop up and say here is my money and get something immediately, or that what I am assuming !

Oh yeah any US owners coming to London, please let me know and I wll pick you up from the airport if you are willing to bring me over some goodies, that I ll pay for obviously !!

Thanks

Kumaran

Ha Ha I thought not !

When I was young I would always find myself in situations where there are so many nice things to buy for my car, imediately, but I couldnt afford them

Now I can afford pretty much anything I want but I cannot make a purchase !

By the way, who here likes the idea of an E28 M5 ?

I think they look amazing ! Not the US bumpered ones and not the Factory Body Kitted ones so much, but just the slimline version !! Lachs Silver....Drool !

Yep good old Birds, they only had the F and R as a set, Hartge for something like £700.........

I really only want rears as I have the staggerred setup and I have come to the conclusion thats what to do !

I have thought sod that now and going for full suspension, and I am scared about the full hard core ones like KW3 V3 and PSS9/14/16 as I take clients in my car etc

I have bought all the extra BMW bits like turntables, additional absorbers, spring pads from bmminiparts as usual.

Also pricing up BMW springs and dampers.....for the boring but proven route !

So what is the best near stock or slightly uprated suspension kit to get ! I dont need any adjustability, like rebound or height on my M5, plenty of that with the throttle ha ha

Anyone heard of Bilstein B8 ?

Who in the UK has uprated suspension except Richard who has KW V3 and some others I forget....?.

Oh yeah got my driver side mirror today too.....£199 ouch but cheap still !

KW V3 is not as bad as I have made out. I have become "Cheif pot-hole spotter" though since it was installed as hitting something like that gives you an almighty bang. However, under normal driving conditions, it is pretty difficult to tell the difference between stock and the KW V3.

I too have to take clients out in my car and I was worried about the ride quality, but you maybe have to be a little more aware of the road surface that's all.

The biggest issue I have is the height of the car - I always thought of the OEM set up was way too high and wanted it to be a lot lower. The stance now looks sooooo much better and the handling is much improved. The only problem is speed bumps which I have to be very careful when going over, but I guess that's not a bad thing anyway; you don't want to be thrashing over them like it's a rep-mobile anyway!!

Rich

Ok guys, here goes !

I am getting Bilstein B8 Sprint Dampers with Intrax Springs 30 mm drop .......

Rich and Barnie dont tell anyone, but I actually put more time, in terms of consideration, into the purchase of my new £12 Bosch wiper blades than my suspension......wtf ?

Dampers gonna be about £780 and Intrax £300.

Non adjustable at all. I hope they hit the spot !

For me, the loads that I would need to experience to benefit from the advantages of a full coilover setup, are loads I dont want to put onto the M5.

I hope these are OEMesque but with a bit of a performance edge

Yep thats it mate it !!!

I have let someone else do the thinking on this one, for once !

Sal at EVOLVE, www.evo-s.co.uk , as you know, pays a lot of attention to detail, and I mentioned some of my concerns to him, and he was straight onto the phone to Intrax to make sure the drop, was not too bad, as I am a Central London driver, and he is always more than happy to discuss his views with me openly !

Intrax say that it would be 30mm +/- 5mm ! Lets hope its more like 25 than 35.....

I can get Koni FSDs for MUCH less, and Koni Yellows (adj damping) for about the same iirc

I can get Kelleners Springs, H&R Springs, Eibach Springs for less and Dinan Springs for about the same all the way from US than the Intrax Springs......

But we gonna go with Bilstein B8 Sprint / Intrax Springs ! Its gotta nice ring to it

Rich: I was first considered mad when my dad saw me regularly applying opposite lock on the exit of the hairpin (bottom of the stairs and u turn into the hallway) when I was 4/5 years old, with initially a plate and then a steering wheel he picked up at a breakers yard for me (like a 3 spoke from a Ford Escort RS Mexico or something like that)

Cheers
