Noticed the window & mirror panel is missing the fold button, atleast that matches the mirrors...
Fun thread! Wow, makes me want to go back and study the pictures a third time...

I would think that it is a high probability that this car has been in some sort of car accident. The mirrors to me look as though they are a different shade of red. I'd think that all of the seats have been changed out since it has the sport door panels. Maybe it was a theft/vandalism car.

haha they are located in el monte. That's my city... pretty shady used car dealers south of me. I know exactly where the auction place is. I'm gonna email the seller and see if I can take a look at it in person. (email sent)

The 2000 models (like mine) didn't come with the alcantara headliner... mine didn't come with a home link system.

I've never seen these seats in any other M5s so I'm guessing they were either redone by a crappy company or from a different styled 5 series. (hey at least they're not vaders from an e36) hahaha.

I didn't notice, but if the car didn't come with the flip feature for the mirrors, maybe those are the proper mirrors.. I believe the fold is an option, but you'd figure they'd at least resemble the folding ones in design...

The rear view mirror on mine (a MY 09/99) has the dimming rear view and folding mirrors... it kind of makes sense for them to not have a dimming mirror too... maybe that was a sort of all inclusive package if you got the option for dimming/folding mirrors? Can anyone validate that that purcahsed their M5 from the dealer?

The orange side markers were probably purchased to blend with the red? The front headlights are seriously terrible looking. I'm glad I have hellas on mine.

What's up with the tail lights? is it me or do they look like the owner bought them on ebay?

Does anyone know if that's the stock exhaust? I have custom mufflers on mine... are the tips really that far spaced out on the stock exhaust? That looks like... poopy

Good eye with the silver board monitor... i didn't even notice. I originally emailed him asking for a shot of the motor... that would initially make or break the car's validity as an M5.

Anyway i'll check it out tomorrow assuming auctioners will allow me to see it... we can all laugh about it tomorrow.

Maybe the headliner was an option. My 2000 (10/99 I think) has alcantara headliner and pillars.
All M5s came with the oval/round mirrors and flip feature. Wasn't an option. Non M5 = square; M5 = Oval.
Headlights and taillights do look like cheap ebays to me... Side markers I can understand matching the color better, but with the way the rest of the car is, its just another unknown...
Matt

the manipulation dot IS ILLUMINATED in the cluster. so either the cluster was replaced with a used one or the lamp module was. that may not be the correct mileage.

They have a collection of some very tacky cars for sale. That Merc 380-(560 wannabee)SL is disgusting.

Not original owner. 3rd owner...
I thought it was standard in US for the M5 to have an Alcantara headliner...?
Maybe yours was replaced or is a Canadian car?
Matt
