How many M5's have Motorola StarTAC CellPhone in Center Console

Hello All,

Quick Question ??

My 2002 M5 has a Motorola StarTAC CellPhone in the Center Consoles.

How many M5'ers have Motorola StarTAC CellPhones in their Center Consoles or different phones ?

I have reviewed a lot of M5s for sale online and hardly see or have never seen any mentioned with Motorola StarTAC CellPhones in their Center Consoles ?

Peace,
GR

Mine had it. I switched it out with the regular tray though, I like it much more than the old ancient phone.

I've got one, don't use it, don't really have plans to switch it yet.

With the advent of bluetooth (retrofit), no need for a connected phone (and I am assumng it was digital since no one supports analog anymore).
Regards,
Jerry

I have it!!!

And because the bastages won't allow me to enable it due to no GPS capability, I call the Verizon 611 operator number as often as possible while driving and get into random conversations throguh varying accents to annoy them. the Indian one works well and invokes both curiosity and ultimately outrage

I have one. Used it for eight years and retired it last year. It was a PITA because the mike on it died about 5 years ago so the only way I could use it was in the car with the ceiling mike - if I took it out of the car I could make calls but no one could hear me talking. Which meant I had a phone line dedicated to the car only.

Anyone know what the P/N is for the regular tray?

Steve

Not really sure if its digital or not? At some point it will be removed from the car. Also not a fan of bluetooth, its a flawed technology that is over the past few years has gotten a lot better!

OOOH thats what thats for! Damn, I had always thought it was from a PO installing a sirius radio or something of the sort.

I have the phone in my center console, and it bugs me to no end. I want to take it to BMW to uninstall it, but figure they would charge me up the *** for it. I am also interested in the P/N for the regular center tray, and any info on how to uninstall the current tray as well would be nice.

It took me 15 minutes to replace. Pull the shelf compartment under the rear seat facing vents out, push the vents down and unscrew the 2 phillips heads connecting the metal sliding plate to the center compartment then pull back and up. Unscrew 4 torx bolts from the unerside of the plate, squeez the black plastic tabs and push the cradel up and remove. Be careful not to scratch the leather armrests. Pop new blank piece in place and reverse the steps.
I called the stealer and they found the part # for me. 18 bucks out the door.
