knocked out both rear bearings along with the pss9, and wow were the bearings a pita. one issue lead to another issue. i knew removing the outer bearing race from the flange would be a pita, but those 2 lower bolts were a REAL pita. i had to drop remove the axles so i could get to the bolts, so to have enough clearance i had to drop the exhaust, i undid everything but the connections at the headers and the exhaust hung enough to where i could slide the axles over. removing the bolts even then was a real hassle. had to get the wrench on there just right, and you cant use an extremely long wrench to get leverage on the bolt. no power tools will get into the area either.
finally get them all off and the race off as well, assembly was straight forward, but you have to keep in mind that the lower bearing bolts have to be bolted on first, install the axle, then install the upper bolts. getting the exhaust bolts lined up turns into a pita but its doable.
took me 4 hours to do the first side since i was basically guessing at what i should remove and how to remove that race. once i figured out exactly what had to come off i got the second bearing done in roughly 2 hours. this was with my cordless snap on impact drill. if i had not had that, it would have easily taken an extra hour removing and installing the long list of bolts involved.
i didnt take pics but i have to readjust my pss9 so i can slam my car, so ill take pics when i do that.
oh yea i forgot to add, my "whomp whomp whomp" and "click click click" are gone now too, i had a feeling it was my rear bearings, car is silent now, there is a slight electronics buzzing noise as i accelerate, ill look into that tomorrow.
Let me get this straight, we get detailed pics of your 2hr engine swap and no pics of a little 6hr wheel bearing job?
pretty much...lol
i had to do this outside in the texas heat, which really takes a toll on you quickly. last thing i wanted to do was take pics. it didnt help that i thought i would only have to put out the axles, not remove them, which only got worse when i had to drop the exhaust. thats when i started dropping F bombs left and right.
to make it worse, i had everything put back together and forgot i didnt tighten those bottom bolts enough. so i had to remove the damn axle again to get to those bolts.
im going to have a 4 wheel alignment done today so ill take plenty of pics while its being knocked out.
and i honestly would rather swap motors, before doing those wheels bearings again. they suck that much.

Hahah, go figure! Atleast 90% of the time, engine swapping is pretty straight forward with not many obstacles. Wheel bearings, can be hit and miss. Ive seen wheel bearings go for thousands of miles with no grease and fuse themselves to the hub. Even with a 10lb slide hammer i was not able to get it out lol.
If you dont mind me asking, how much did the wheel bearings set you back?

the slide hammer got the flange off, but with the flange the outer race was still on. getting the race off with a chisel was a pita since i didnt want to ruin the flange. the actual bearing once i removed the bolts came off easily, another perk of a cali car.
i dont know how much i paid, i get my parts at cost, so i just put orders in and the department charges my CC.

yea it does end up being bad, i have a tendency to order new parts when i think there is something wrong...or ill just change things out for the hell of it.
