Put in New MAF , need to put back stock filter

Hi All,

Just put in some new MAFs since I was told K&N could have been the culprit . I know it's not really conclusive but I just want to be sure and put back the stock oil filter.

Question is , is this a big job? can I do it myself? Any ways to save some money in the process?

Like always are replies are greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Rob

It's the air filter, but they are very easy to change. Easier than the MAFS.

Air filters are incredibly easy. Pop off the 3-4 clips off the airbox and lift up the top half of the box.

Put in your stickers and your good.

Oh I see, I kept thinking it was an oil filter since I was told that the oil of the filter is damaging the MAF.

So I guess it's the ail filter which gets oiled. Well in that case it must be very cheap to do so.

That's good news, thanks everyone for the clarification.

Yeah looks like bimmerzone has some cheap ones too. But I am not questioning if I should go through the process at all. My K&N has not been touched (or oiled) for at least a year and a half. Is it still possible that it will contaminate my MAF? Would it still be safter to change to stock filters?

Your 1.5 year old K&N filter is not going to contaminate your MAF. When PROPERLY oiled, they work fine; Dinan uses them on his CAI kit.

If you decide to reoil, shoot me a PM and I will walk you through it, very simple.
Regards,
Jerry
