Awsome Brian, thanks!

I am sure I can get another discount if I get it right the first time!!!!

LED Map light info

My break down of the map lights...

Picture 1 is of the current bulb's I have now. I'm not using them due to how little light they put out. Picture 2 is the rear C pillar light, and you can see that it has a reflector for the map light. After experimenting with my dome light, picture 3, I have found that using the reflector optimizes the light output of the LED just the same as it does with an incandescent bulb. You can see I chose a dome light that has 12 LED's all around it, and it is pretty damn bright!

Picture 4 is of the bulb that would most likely work well in the C pillar map light from Autolumination. It is called the 5 LED 1895 Ba9s. You want the light to come out of the sides of the bulb as opposed to the tip for it to work in the map light location. I also found the BA9s-xHP9, picture 6, at Superbrightleds.com that looks to put out more light, but maybe we cannot get the group buy with them.

The same bulb fits in both the C pillar map lights and the dome map lights, so I would use the same bulb in all locations.

I'm going to make a ghetto reflector out of foil for the dome map lights since there will not be any heat build up with the LED's.

For a group buy you will need 4 bulbs total for the map lights.

Just as a side note to anyone looking at buying LED's, the cheaper ones do not put out as much light as the "superstar" or SMT LED's. I also found that the LED's that look like the ones in picture 5, ( I bought them for the whole car but have replaced them all) look purple-ish/blue-ish when in fact they should be white. The SMT & superstar LED's truly are white. Don't waste your money on the cheapos, get the big boys and you'll only do the job once.

All packages have been shipped!

Thank you Brian for the very informative post. I was looking at the Ba9's from autoillumination as well. I am pretty sure they make a bulb that is double stacked like the one from superbrightleds. I'll get back to you....

I would be interested in another GB as well, provided they sell bulbs in amber/orange. I would like to retain the factory look/feel just make it a lot brighter.

None of the bulbs we are replacing are amber/orange. We replaced the interior bulbs. The ones that come on to give you light in the car at night. Not really sure what you think we are replacing....

I'm in for the map lights. I HATE the amber light they throw off when I have the white LED everywhere else.
