Help!!! - E39 S62 Engine For Sale!!!

Not sure what to think - but just been offered a S62 M5 E39 Engine for £350.00 Delivered!!!

As many of the board members know - i went through a nightmare having to change and my engine in my 00 plate M5. So this offer sounds - to good to be true??

I asked him if it worked and it said yes - giving me a 30 day warranty, telling me its come out of a 51 plate motor.

He told me he was a breaker and heard that i needed an engine. Does anyone know how i can check a pullled engine so that i dont get ripped off? key points below:

1. VANOS - is there a way to check the state of the gears, switches?
2. How do i check that the engine is not stolen or anything?
3. The guy wants me to pay first, and then they will deliver. not completly dodgy - as i should be covered by credit card.

thoughts boyz and girlz

That's one hell of a cheap engine. A bit too cheap really.

My old modified Nissan Primera uses a fairly common Nissan engine, the 2 litre, 4 cylinder SR20DE. The going rate for a bog standard but decent running SR20DE out of a breaker is about £400.

£350 is about the price of 2 new MAFs for the S62 and about 3.5% of the cost of a new S62 engine. IF it turns out to be legit, £350 is the deal of the century for a working engine. Bearing this in mind, there is a very good chance it won't be working or legit.

It's basically a £350 gamble. Like you say, by using a credit card you should have some protection but it is just too cheap to think it is owt other than dodgy.

you are going to get scammed

your next thread will be, "i got scammed and never got my engine"

i just purchased a motor and the seller was confident enough to stand behind it that he is not asking for my money until fedex freight has a hold of the engine and it is on its way to me.

to good to be true - thats what i thought!!

mmm, considering that i just ebayed my old engine, with a scratched cylinder and water in the block for 800, i did think it was to cheap. however saying that - if i pay using a credit card then i should be protected, so when it arrives i can check it over i suppose.

does sound like a scam though!!
