Drivetrain whine/humming...

Hey everyone, I'm hoping to get some help with my whining issue. Before anyone says SEARCH I already did and came up empty handed. Most situations were different from mine.

Just replaced the tires so I know it's not that.

Anyways, here are the symptoms:

-Whine/Hum from 5mph-any speed.
-Whine/Hum doesn't change when on the throttle or coasting.
-Whine/Hum doesn't get louder or quieter when turning left or right.
-Gets exponentially louder the faster I go.

Can anyone help me narrow down on the culprit please? Thanks!

Absent information about your mileage or tire condition, you can start with trans and/or diff fluids.

WOW, i did a search for drive-train whine and received all the info you need to trouble shoot and find your problem. 5+ threads on this problem.

http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/sea...archid=4145500

I personally would start by checking your tranny and diff fluid levels. If the whine is that bad I would let you have a rather serious problem. I would say you have a failing or failed wheel bearing. Search harder next time... PLEASE!

Mods here is another example.... Another overly discussed thread that is lacking moderatation...

Thanks for the warm welcome...

As I said I searched and I came up with threads regarding whine but none of them had the same symptoms I'm having. If they did then I missed it and I apologize.

Why is it so difficult to get an answer even if it has been discussed a mere 5 times before? At least I didn't ask about carbon build up...

Anyways, I'll start with diff and tranny fluid.

That's ridiculous - The intent of any forum is to foster collaboration and growth. Over-moderation is what stifles any good community. This individual made a good faith effort to perform a search and should be granted some leniency - as well as some respect as a 'newbie'.

If we're (or you) are tired of repetition - don't click into the thread - pretty simple.
