Installing V1 Concieled display in ashtray?

If there is a thread about this would someone please direct me to it. I have been searching for 30 minutes for a "how to" thread on installing the V1 concealed display in the ash tray and have had no luck. If someone could direct me to a thread, or website with instructions on how to do this that would be awesome

Thanks

wouldnt it be risky having it down there? why not eye level and putting it on the left side of the dash near the defroster vent?

I haven't decided where I would put it yet, but I am still interested in how difficult it would be to install it in the ash tray. I figure if I wanted to mount the concealed on near the windshield I'd rather just save money and only buy the radar detector itself (since its practically right there). I would use the concealed for volume/mute mostly. I cant remember, is there a setting to where the led's in the main unit still light up even if you have the concealed connected?

If you have the concealed display, then only that will light up. The V1 its self will not light up.

It sounds like what you want is the "remote audio adapter" at the bottom of this page:

https://store.valentine1.com/store/

And to answer your question about how hard it would be to mount it in the ash tray, wouldn't be too bad. I did my Ipod integration install and routed the wire up near the E-brake. That was easy, so I would think it wouldn't be much worse running a wire to the ash tray. IMO though, it would be a terrible place for it because you need to move your head so far to look. If it were me, I would look for a better place or just leave the main unit with its indicators.

Thanks for the info! I'll probably just get the unit only

The other option is the "StealthOne" which connects to the V1 and allows for dash / steering wheel opservation and operation. I am awaiting its delivery as we speak.

In all honesty, I wouldn't put your concealed display in the ash tray. Sure, if you do it right, it'll look nice, but you're going to have to look down every time you get an alert, which means your eyes aren't on the road. Some alerts will also have you looking down multiple times, which is even more unsafe.

To me, putting the display in the ash tray totally defeats the purpose of buying it. Just because it's called a "concealed" display doesn't mean that it has to be in a super concealed location. There are plenty of other places for you to mount it so others can't see it.

I would mount it where it is more at eye level so you can keep your eyes closer to the road ahead. Either that or try to get a used Stealth One.

+2 on the StealthOne. Best single electronic upgrade for the money that I've made. Works precisely as advertised, installs exactly as easily as advertised, no hitches at all.
