DOB: 11/99 Peake Question

Hey all finally picked up a 2k M5 with 72,000 miles on it. Super low price, but kinda banged up.

My question is i've been looking into reset tools and mine seems to have both the OBD hookup under the dash AND the Pacman 20 pin under the hood. I recognized that right away because I have an E36 M3 too. Anyway, my question is... are my eyes tricking me or do I have both hookup points on my car? I know after the 2k models they switched to only the OBD hookups (correct me if i'm wrong please). So which tool should I get? I think not having to pop the hood would be way more convenient. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks in advance.

you have both, but i have never been able to get the in cabin interface to give as much information (using carsoft) as the under the hood interface. according to the local BMW dealer my car has the latest software. so it's not a software issue.

My car has both connectors as well... both seem to work equally well with the Peake reader.

I bought the R5/FCX-3-U, which lets me use either type of connector...

I use a $90 Actron for the in car plug and it works fine - gives the codes, resets the the maintenance bars. I also have a Peake, but only because the Actron did not work until the software was fix was done. Haven't used the Peake since the fix.
