Titanium Shift Knob Peeling

Took the car in and was told it would be replaced. Picked up the car and it was replaced with an all leather one. Now, they tell me that this is the only one available. Are they filling me up with bovine fecal matter? I know lots of you have been through this...help? Also, my cluster is being replaced as well. Some of the lights have decided to work off and on...thank goodness for warranty!

I guess if it's a matching set, then it's not THAT bad, but I am just missing the feel of metal in the morning!

The shift knob is made differently from the other metal trim. The peeling problem was bad enough that they gave up trying to fix it. I had mine replaced - but after the second one wore out they gave me the black leather.

Dave,

Did you have some of the pixels go out in your check control box in the instrument cluster? That has happened to mine and Im wondering if they will also replace my gauge cluster.

From what I've read by owners, all replacements will now be leather.

Re: Titanium Shift Knob Peeling

I had the same problem, but instead of replacing it with a new leather one, I peeled the entire shift knob. It looks pretty good, and over time it has attained a chrome-like finish due to constant use.

Mine was replaced with the all leather on too. I like it better personally. The parking brake handle was replaced with the newer aluminum, which I haven't had any trouble with so far.

CM5GO,

If you are talking about the multi-information display int he gauge-cluster, yes you can get it replaced under warranty. I had it replaced twice on my 540 for free. Apparently, the MID reacts very pooly to low temps.
