I just completed a stereo installation (will post some pics soon) and reinstalled my MKIV navigation. Turns on, map comes up, but map position is totally wrong. Sometimes, it's just off by a road or two, sometimes it's off by a city or two! I thought it had been that I had a bad antenna connection, but replaced that with no improvement. Any thoughts?

None that your going to like other than to park it in an open field for about 30 minutes with the ignition on and see if it can locate itself. If it does it should be able to stay "located". If it can't, then it is time to dig into the diagnostic menu and start checking signal strengths from the various satellites.
You said you replaced the antenna already - did you also replace the length of wire attached to it? It may very well be crimped somewhere and be preventing good signal transmission.
Three years ago I remember having to set up a Honda Navigation system right off the truck. At that time the instructions said after installing the fuse, slip the DVD in, then slowly drive it in a circle for at least 15 minutes in a completely unobstructed open area as it gets its bearings. I continually did a turning radius circle out in the middle of a parking lot and it worked. On the newer ones it calibrates during the mechanic's first road test.
When they first come in they all think they are in Southern California until they are calibrated. In otherwords, before calibration if I try to locate the nearest Starbucks (I'm in Seattle area), it finds them around Torrence, CA. (Honda's US HQ)

Thanks, Doug. I will give that a try, but replacement of the antenna wire is next if that doesn't work.

The "drive in a circle" portion of that setup is actually to orient the compass - many OEM's use this same procedure when your built in compass gets lost. Other than that, it really is just a matter of waiting for the system to acquire an appropriate number of satellites (3 minimum) to locate your longitude, latitude, and altitude. The more satellites you have the more accurate your location.
Our cars also suffer the same "jet leg" from transportation with the vehicle off. When it first wakes up it will still think you are in the last location you left it (a logical assumption 99% of the time) until it gets enough satellites to realize it has been moved...
The indicator in the upper right hand corner of my nav screen shows the globe, but does not read "GPS," so I don't think I'm getting any (or enough) satellite feeds. Hopefully, the new antenna connecting wire will do the trick. Still need to go into service mode and check settings for the gyro and all of that as well.
