Help with vibration and whinning noise

I have been trying to diagnose a vibration that is felt mainly in the shift lever. It is definely a cyclic vibration that is felt. I can feel it some in the steering wheel but not like the shifter. I also have a whine and resonating/cyclic type sound. The whine is related to engine speed/RPM. It is there when I rev the engine or when I/m driving. I know I have a leaking exhaust where the SS X pipe meets the cats (not welded) which might be associated some of the sound. I have taken it to the dealer which they did not find anything wrong.. go figure. I have looked under the car but do not see anything obvious. The car has 52K original clutch etc. oh one other thing I noticed is it seems like my gas mileage has decrease as well. Car runs strong not clutch slippage. I though maybe it was the power steering pump but dealer says it's working fine. Any thoughts??

I had some of the same issues.....mine was a center support bearing....might want to check the wheel bearings as well. Just my two cents......

It does it when it's sitting still though so I woundn't think it was a center bearing or wheel bearing. Sounds more like a whinning pump or motor. It's gotta be either the power steering pump, alternator, or ??. I guess I could remove the belt and see if the sound goes away.

if you think its something belt driven then remove the belts and see if its still there. i have an annoying vibration also. i thought it was something related to the driveshaft, but it cant be cause it will do it at a stand still just reving in neutral. it seems worse when the car is cold. im thinking something with the exhaust. the exhaust bolts to the transmission and it feels like that is the area its coming from.
