What speakers are where?

Ok, I have hated the sound in my 2001 M5 with M Audio since the day I got it. To me the sound system lack clarity and detail and sounds very muddy. Now has come the time when I have decided to do something about it. In trying to figure out what speaker size are currently in the car I was surprised to find a couple of weirdnesses.

Here is how it lays out in my car:
-Front window corner grill: *very* tiny tweeter
-Front door handle grill: empty
-Front door kick panel grill: 5" (I think) coaxial with diaphram made of some weird woven graphite and kevlar appearing substance
-Rear door tweeter grill: empty
-Rear deck: same 5" coaxial speakers

My question is how the heck do I upgrade this? Is the front a two-way system with two tweeters or a 3-way system? If it is a 3-way system, is there an easy way to upgrade it to a two-way non-coaxial system (just a mid and a tweeter)?

Thanks in advance for anything...anything at all!

Chad
