Fog Light HID Upgrade - experiences

Ok folks! Got some generic HID's from e-bay, installed them last week, they worked for a minute or two, then the ballasts crapped out on me.

I heard that Apexcone setup works well and cancels out the 'Problem with your lights buddy!' error message that people seem to get.

Anyone has same experience? The Apexcone should be a simple 'plug and play' with no additional equipment, wiring, splicing, or anything else that needs to be tied into the 9006 wiring in our fog lamps.

Has anyone experienced the same situation recently when they upgrade to HIDs in the fog light housing shells?

As far as Apexcone setup goes, did anyone experience any issues putting this system in to replace the Halogen 9006 fog light bulbs? Any special wiring required or necessary to make it work or was it simply plug and play and no error message on console? Looking for suggestions!

I ordered a set of 9006 5000K ApexCone HID fog light bulbs (the kit is 59.95 which is relatively cheap). I have now an extra set of 9006 bulbs from the last kit as well as spares I guess.

Anyways, looking for feedback and suggestions from forum members!

The Apexcone HID kit is not plug-n-play. I bought them and both sides flicker. I bought load resistors but have not had time to try them again. I can sell you mine, including the load resistors, if you are thinking of going that route..

Let search be your friend. There are several threads about HID foglights and some of their issues.

I have the 55w apexcones myself. No flicker, no resistors. Just plug and play. Took all of 20 minutes to install. The only issue I have is blinding everyone

Not a problem! My winding roads where I live have no lights since our residents in Great Falls are afraid of street lamps! LOL! That's probably why there are so many dead animals on the road here!

I am supposed to get them next week but did order the load resistors just in case. Thanks for the tip!

I have had the Apexcone HID fogs for about a year. Plug and play, no resistors needed, no issues so far.

Steer clear of the umnitza plug and play kit with digital eliminator. The only thing they digitally eliminate is working Hid lights. I have to tear them apart to look at them again!

I have that kit and it was plug and play with no errors whatsoever. No flickering, no dimming, nothing. Had it working for over the year and their customer service is great as well.

It seems that everyone has a different personal opinion on these installs! I guess it comes down to Trial and Error with these things!

Yea, it's amazing how finicky our cars can be when it comes to electronics. Either that, or it's amazing how much difference vendors have between product batches
