Perfect! Somebody finally did a full write up of a full e39 M5 detail! Excellent! I meant to do this last time I clayed mine but did not have enough pictures to show the step-by-step process! This thread belongs in Detailing World as well since they don't really have anything on the e39 M5's as accurate as this! Good job mate! These babies clean up real well, especially with the right clay bar and polish!

I have always loved a dark green colored car but have never bought one. That is incredible looking. Stunning! Love it!

Depends on how aggressive you really went with it and how soft the paint is. What products have you used together with your orbital polisher? How hard have you been pressing it down and what speed? If you really in doubt, then think on investing in a PTG, better safe then sorry and burn through the paint.

But, if you have been using an orbital polisher with a medium cut polish and have been cautions with it, then you can do it safely a few times. You did good in remembering that you only have a certain amount of clear coat and that you should do your best in preserving it

Of course, I used Sonüs Glide. The Grey clay already tends to leave a bit of marring behind due to its aggressiveness, but the cold temperatures made it very hard to work with, even though I kept on dipping it in a cup with hot water to keep it soft and malleable.

Haven't had a chance of trying them. I like Menzerna a lot, even though they tend to be picky with the temperature and the humidity. I recommend that you give Menzerna 85RD a try, it is in my opinion the best finishing polish that you can get

Thanks! I posted a thread at the same time as this one. Detailing World is an excellent resource!

The darker it gets the crazier the reflections can be. I have a MX-5 in dark green and I am able to get some good reflections out of it as well:

I would love to get my hands in a Jet Black E39 for a few weeks, but first I gotta finish my Le Mans Blue M5, else my car gets angry with me

85RD is a finishing polish and not LSP. It finishes up so good that if you want you can skip the Glaze. A Wax or Sealant will still be required to protect the paint

LOL! Sorry buddy! I did not mean to rub it in! At least you're not in Canada like my cousins where their cars look like total crap - always ice and salt on the road!
