New Exhaust System - Header Back

I bought my 01 M5 in October 07. Prety much just before the values started to really dive. I thought it was the deal of the century then, now even better.

What I couldn't believe was that for the most part, the aftermarket wasn't following course. If I could afford an $80K car, I wouldn't have bought a 7 year old M5. But I still want to modify it even though I am 'poor'

So, I immediatly dismissed the stupid priced exhaust systems among other things.

I decided to park my car over this blistery WI winter and took it up to my friends shop in Green Bay. There, he has an AWD dyno, seveal lifts and is quite a tuning master when it comes to modern fuel injected cars. He is quite respected in the DSM/evo world, subaru world, and many others. Recently he has gotten to work with ford GT's and ferraris.

Anyway, I aksed him about the exhaust on my car, he looked and said it isn't easy, but making an affordable system shouldn't be out of the question.

So, my exhaust has been dropped and they are ordering and making components for a new system, replacing everything from the headers back. New high flow cats, x pipe, mufflers, tips, everything.

Once my prototype is finished and dyno tested, we will establish pricing and get a 10 piece group buy going. Prior to any of that we will establish ourselves to dealer status here on the boards and make everything legit.

I'm hoping there will be some interest in this, especially for the guys who want a whole system but didn't have the pocket book to afford it.

If this goes well, we may develop an intake system and other upgrades as well.

Please post any interest, wishful price point, recomendations, etc.

Thanks!!!

Bob

Gustav- I know I've spoken to you about this already, but if this is in any way in-appropriate, please delete, or whatever. I'm thinking, the end of this month or first thing in Feb. we will sign on as dealers.

Preliminary thoughts put us around $2k for the system plus shipping, but that is really rough.

Remember that is everything but the headers.

I'm all over high quality, American work, for a reasonable price. I don't need the brand name, and typically don't like paying the premium for it. Quality yes, image, no...

Keep us posted, and thanks for looking into this!

by 'headers back' do you mean headers too? That's where the power lies. $2k for headers, cats and exhaust! wow.

I dont think he means that. Most full systems are cat-back which means anything from the cats forward (or back). Since this system would replace the cats as well, then it would be a headers-back system.

The exhaust is dropped from my car right now and they are collecting parts and doing some design work for the new system. At the same time I am having a new clutch, fuel pump, fuel filter, and a whole bunch of other little maintenance stuff done to the car.

At that time, the stock system will be bolted back up to the car, and a dyno run/vid will be done for a baseline. We didn't think it was fair to baseline on a slipping clutch and a fuel filter with over 100K on it.

Then the new exhaust will be installed for another round of dyno/vids.

Before any of that is posted we will establish as vendors.

Oh, and this does not include headers, everything but the headers.

Thanks for the interest,

Bob

Keep us posted. I would be intrested if price is right. But I would go for cats and headers only since I have SS x-pipe and SS Magnum cans. I could drive to Green Bay and get these installed there.

My bad. I see that you do not offer headers. So probably I would need cats only.
