sick project tim, with the bezel, why not get some panel off a car someone is parting and use the leather off that. it will be a perfect match that way with color and texture.

Funny you should mention that. I was just talking to some people at the BMWCCA meeting last night about doing that. I am posting a thread in the classifieds today looking for a 16"x8" peice of leather from a dashboard....

Thanks for the advice!!

edit....

Just found this on ebay.... It is an E36 center console, made from real leather ($22) They have them for the E46 also. It should match correct? Does anyone know the dimensions of one of these? Who has an E36 and a tape measure??

ehh ive noticed the leather on other bmw is a little different then my M. surely someone has to be parting an M which you can scoop up a door panel from, that would have more then enough leather. the door panels rarely sell, so it should work in your favor.

looking good so far! Keep it going. I would say that the leather is different though compared to the e36

cheers

If you have not seen escarolo's install, find his thread. Simply amazing.....

I am going to re-design my trunk after seeing his install. What a source of inspiration!

I believe hat was board member Panos. Here is the thread about his car in the salvage yard.

I got the majority of the speaker box built today. I had planned on mounting the woofers magnet out, and reversing their polarity because I think the magnet side of the woofer is much more attractive than the cone side. But after building the box and test fitting it in the car, I don't think they will fit in the space provided magnet out, so I will just mount them cone out.

I have changed my trunk set up after seeing escarolo's install. I am going to utilize some of the small pockets under the floor cover for my component crossovers and power distribution. I plan to mount both of my amps in the old amp/nav/cd changer location and mount both of my dvd/cd changers to the rear deck.

Pic of almost finished box....

I decided to re-vamp my trunk design and mount the amps in the factory location with a modified factory amp rack. Since I work in a factory, I have virtually an unlimited supply of stainless steel, and access to a tig welder and other fabricating equipment. So I did a little reconstruction of the factory mount.

This is the mount before I prime and paint it....
