Sure, but I'm not displaying on the screen since I have an aftermarket head unit. So without the display, the MKIV is pretty much worthless in the car, right? Time for a for sale thread!

Both. They seal the door and make it function as an enclosure for the HAT L8s. The rear section is to accommodate the map pocket.

The information can still be veiwed on your dashboard. MPG, time, date, etc..... If you do not have you Nav unit hooked up, they will not work. This is all covered in this thread already, flip a few pages back and read it.......

Thats too easy plus you said that already. I would just rather post and argue its more fun that way.

Timmy! Great job man!

I just read through this ENTIRE thread...wow...what an awesome project and a wealth of great information on a complicated project. You, and all involved get two thumbs up...and Doug holy smokes you know your stuff!

Do you have install pics, information, and fabrication details on the final trunk trim with the "M5 etched plexiglass window" project and the lighting too? Sorry if I missed the details on that...really looks nice.

When you get a chance, post more pics of the trunk setup.

Also, how does iPod integration look and work with your setup?

Sorry brother, just read this post.....

I am sort of revamping the trunk set up now. I will post the final install pics when I am done! I will add a few build pics too.

Ipod/Iphone integration is flawless with the Alpine unit. I love it. Right now I have the connection in the glove box. I hook up the ipod, toss it in the glove box and forget it. All of the controls are made from the deck. Video, audio, album covers, everything.

Did this tonight... AHHHHH! Talk about nerve racking. I was more nervous about this than doing the HU install for some reason! WOW.

This will be the the speaker grill. I will make it out of 1/8" MDF and the grill cloth herrubermensch donated. Thanks Peter.....

Oh man, do I remember doing that! Takes some cajones to cut into those door panels! Don't worry, though; it's going to turn out a lot better than you think. I was actually pretty proud of how it all turned out in my case.

Absolutely, your doors gave me inspiration Peter. I stared at the pictures you sent me for a very long time before cutting. LOL.

timmay77,

You are brave man. I'm not sure I could do that to my two front interior door cards...

Great job. How are you going to mount the grill to the door panel?
