Please excuse the dirty garage, this was taken at 11:30pm last night. I was a bit too tired to clean up. I did a 12 hour shift at work, come home to play with the munchkin and put her to bed, then straight to the garage to start on this thing. I even had the wifey out there helping me hold pieces together! God bless her.....

Looks good! If those are simple butt-joints between the pieces (and not rabbets) then make sure you put a layer of caulk around the inside to ensure a good, airtight seal.

What is the "hidden compartment" for underneath the subwoofer cavity? Amplifier mounting?

Thanks d-

Those are butt joints, didn't really have a choice. I used liquid nails at every joint and went with 732 silicone to seal up the enclosure. I had considered doing a layer of liquid fiberglass on the inside when finished, but that would be overkill I think.

The area under the subs is just addition air space needed to get the 2 cubic feet required for the enclosure. I mounted my amps in the factory location.

Just for reference. It is very hard to get liquid nails off of your hairy forearms when you let it dry for a good hour. I was in the middle of this thing when I got a huge glob on my left forearm. I am missing most of the hair in that spot and am still scraping it off as I type. I spent 20 min in the shower trying to get it off without much success.....

I think I used the hand lotion for the wrong thing......

Seriously, thanks for the advice Hdhntr23, that worked a little better.

I just read that the software to program the Alpine Imprint module is not compatible with Vista, so that makes it a no-go for using a laptop. I can't find one that is running XP SP2. So I "borrowed" enough cables at work to hook up my home PC in my garage to do it since I am still running XP SP3. I won't have to completely disassemble my whole computer desk to dig all the wires out now....

Your offer is GREATLY appreciated. I plan on doing it Wed after I do some running. I actually took a day off of work! It won't be that big of a deal now that I have the cables to do it. I can just unplug my PC and one of my screens and take them to the garage. Easy breezy.

Well........ Uh........... I finished the redesigned speaker box today. BUT, I doubt it will fit in the trunk once I get the back put on it. I put the subs in it and did a test fit, it BARELY went in without the back panel on it. I never even THOUGHT about it not fitting. The other box fit no problem and it was twice as big. The shape it what is making the difference. The new one is "L" shaped, the old one is wedge shaped. Oh well we will see tonight when I seal it up. I will more than likely just throw the subs in the 1st box I built and use it for now. I want to get this thing tuned and see what it is SUPPOSE to sound like!!!!!!

Sorry for the crappy pics and the dirty speakers. Once again it was a late night, and I was too tired so I just took the pics with my phone. I wasn't really happy with the vinyl covering, but the parts that show look okay, the parts that are hidden are the only ones that look like crap....

I think I'm confused. You wanted the backs of the subs exposed, right? But they are on the sloping side of the box, which means they'll be against the back seat, won't they? Which means they'll be hidden?
