UK M5 Driving Experience? Anyone?

Just wondering whether any of our UK members have done the driving experience at Brands Hatch and can tell us about it?

Hi Loz,

I did the UK driving day and thoroughly enjoyed it - here's what I said afterwards:

Presumably you have not been on the course? You might, therefore, not be aware that the courses at Brands have been stopped - to be replaced by alternative venue(s) this year - due to the location "not being suitable; the day is not designed to teach us how to drive on a track and Brands does not have the right facilities for anything else". I have been informed by BMW(GB) that they will be in contact with me direct when they have finalised the new contract. They could (or would?) not divulge the dates or venues ...

I'd be interested to know what you might have heard.

Hope they make it a bit more like the US Driving Experience.

I did the course at Brands Hatch, we didn't go on the track the whole driving Expirence is done in the Paddock and then with a Kent Traffic pig sorry officer taking you on the road to show you how the police drive.

I thought the day was not that good, I drove 1 M5 and a z3. The cars you drive in is a 3 series that is converted to disable ABS and DSC etc. You spend a lot of the time as a passenger waiting your turn.
OK for free though.

The driving day is a great idea but I'm sure it will be no more than a bit of gentle tuition. As a social event it seems like a good idea though and I am looking forward to meeting other UK M5 owners

Thanks for all the replies guys.
To answer, No I haven't yet done the course so I must ring them tommorrow and find out what the latest is on the new venue. Like Spie, I am looking forward to meeting others from the board, hopefully.
