02 M5 vs. 07 550i

Hey Guys,
have had m5 for 4 years now and thinking of making transformation into an 07 550i sport...
i know its now an M , BUT i get a full bumper to bumper warranty that cost $0 -- vs. M $$$$$$
auto, bluetooth, just easier now for me
any thoughts?

currently 2002 M5 with 106miles.. 2nd owner.. perfect condition.. ideas on what i can sell for in this crappy market?

I rarely, if ever advocate buying a new vehicle, for the same reason I love buying used vehicles -- massive depreciation. However, if ever there was a time to buy a new car it is now.

Have you driven the 550i? It's a nice car but not as quick or fun as the M5, and certainly not as enjoyable (IMHO) to sit in, drive, and look at.

i agree with ohnoes. I've driven one, and though it was fun (leaned back, dug in, and ripped pretty good) it wasn't nearly what the E39 M5 is. It's bigger, heavier, uglier...

Let me talk from experience (I have both). The 550i is a great car. It has good power, great features and is very smooth. I used to drive it like I stole it (DTC off). Then I bought my M5 (or M%) and now I drive the 550i like Miss Daisy, and drive my M5 like I stole it.

still, 550's are very cheap in Germany at the moment, and M5's haven't dropped that far yet

Most people only tend to use their M5's within the grasp of what a 550 could do aswell though, but the sound and feel of the M5 are completely different

550 is a great tool, but the M5 remains unbelievably fantastic
