M5 driving experience

My wife and I went to the M5 driving experience last week and I must say that we had a blast. My wife didn't drive any of the cars and she still had a blast. I got to drive double time which was great by me and we had the opportunity to meet some really nice staff and fellow M5 owners. BMW NA really rolls out the red carpet and it is definitely something you don't want to miss even if it weren't free to M5 buyers! It's a shame the dealerships don't have the same attitude as the staff there.

I took my wife the the Experience, and she fought me about driving. I finally perservered and got her to drive.

She is still telling people how much fun she had.

And I feel much better when she is out in the car.

Just to say, if you can get your wife to drive, do!

Bill,

Glad to hear you had a great time, and sounds like you were able to get double time in the seat - which is of course an added bonus.

Isn't the drive to Asheville cool??? How was the weather over there?

My sentiments as well. The people at BMW put on a great event. I am eager to do the M Driving School. Anyone give it a try yet?

I must agree, the driving experience was a blast and I felt like royalty while I was there. My wife did not go so I also pulled double duty in the seat, although my brother in law went with me to Asheville and did most of the driving. I'm also thinking about the M Driving School......looks expensive but I'm still thinking seriously about it.......

I'm next!

I'm waiting for the weather to warm up. I don't do well in cold weather...

The drive to Asheville was great. I enjoyed driving the MCoupe. It has great handling but still feels underpowered compared to the M5. I guess almost everything will feel underpowered when comparing it to the M5. The weather was great. Track day was a little overcast with temperature around 45F. Perfect because the sun wasn't glaring in your eyes and the cool temp made the cars feel a little more responsive. Next day on the drive to Biltmore Estate it was blue skys and again about 45F. I was shocked by how loud the M5's sounded. Almost as if they had aftermarket exhausts. The instructors said they were stock but just had very hard miles on them. We were told that they would be retired after our event and they were going to get new ones. I know some of us gripe about the brakes and clutches but I was impressed by the stopping power and by the clutches withstanding the abuse. I can't wait to go again!

My wife loved the whole experience, but afterward I had to convince her not to beat our M5 like the ones at the school! Look out you may create a Monster !!

I got my beast used and cant afford to pay for it. I have been dying to go ever since I got the beast and heard all of the praise of the program on the board.

Chris,
You may want to check to see if the previous owner went because if it has not been more than year you still can go. I saved about $1400. buy flying into Atlanta and driving to Spartanburg. I had never been to Atlanta so my wife and I took the opportunity to check it out. The drive to Spartanburg is nice with good highways and rolling hills.
