A new meaning to the phrase "Thank God its Friday" New Beast Owner!

Hello all,
I'm now the proud owner of a Carbon Black/Black Luxury Beast!
It has all the options: M Audio, split fold down seats, and pdc. I picked it up last night and I'm truly amazed and in awe of this car!. Thank you to everyone on the board for sharing there experiences and a special thank you to the Malibu meet M5 owners who allowed me to "make up my mind" on getting this car.

...a bit of history,
In 1999 I saw an article in Car and Driver comparing the M5 and the E55 and I was convinced this is the ultimate sports sedan! After months of lurking, I finally joined this wonderful board to get ideas on how to get into a M5 without paying over MSRP (thanks especially to RareM5 and MAH, and Tfung). Like many of you, I was on 2 or 3 list, all out of state. Then the opportunity to buy a house came up, and I delayed the purchase of the Beast ("lets see, M5 or house?" , well you need a proper home for the Beast, right?) Anyway, as things worked out, I moved way up the list at my local dealerships list to the point where I could order the car this month. Then I get the call that someone dropped out and a car on the dealership floor on Monday. I looked at it Tuesday, and decided to pursue it (but what to do with the M3?) Well, without getting into too much detail, thru lack of communication, it got sold out from under us by the owner of the dealership to a friend(Sh#$!) They felt bad, and did a locate for me and got the car in within 24hrs. I picked it up last night and I'm smiling like a kid I woke up this morning and looked in the garage and said "no, it wasn't a dream".

First impressions: Six gears? It pulls in every gear. Very sensitive throttle, so much torque, what the heck was I thinking when I considered the E46 M3? The color is amazing! It is more of a midnight blue than black under bright lights. The attention to detail is first rate, love the chrome around the speakers, dash, and door locks. The feel of the car is sport, very precise steering (like my E36 M3) Handling is great, don't need Dinan supspension at this point (till I track it). The car is quiet, like my 7, but its like, you know, FASTER! Pics to follow if I can upload them somewhere..
This describes my mood perfectly:

Congrats on the new ride. I get all excited everytime I read about someone picking up there Beast, and I do not even own one. These stories have convinced me that the M5 is the next car I will be driving. Hope all goes well and you get those 1200 miles out of the way soon. Have fun.

Congrats!!! It was not that long ago when I picked up my beast. Everytime someone picks theirs up, I remember the excitement. I still havent gotten over it. I find myself just staring at the car for no reason at all.

All right, Kevmmmm!

Congratulations. its been fun having you here with us pre-car - I would love to know after you drive the car for a bit - how would you compare the real experience with what you expected, based upon what you learned here? what impressed you as "better than you expected" and what didn't live up?
