Car and Driver Feb 2002 Radar Detector Comparison

Not to restart an old debate, but if you're looking for information about radar detectors, I suggest you follow this link to the February 2002 edition of Car and Driver magazine for its article on The Great Detector Test. If you want a preview, C&D rated the detectors in the following order:
  1. Valentine One (not surprisingly, because it has won every C&D evaluation)
  2. Passport 8500
  3. Bel 980
  4. Cobra XR-1050
  5. Whistler 1780
  6. Uniden LRD 987
For another perspective, you can look at Speedzones.com.

Favorite C&D quote:

"We've said this before and it's still true: Once you live with the arrows, you'll wonder how you ever managed without them."

Amen!

The Valentine One is worth every penny. I don't know how I survived without. I'd much rather live with a few extra false alarms to know about a real threat sooner. Good tradeoff in my mine.
