Starting issues...

Hey there. My e39 has some starting issues. This began roughly a week ago. I had the car detailed. The detailer went to move it back and it wouldn't start. I was a little surprised that the car would start fine, and then not start at alll an hour or so later. So, I put the battery charger on it. Got it going, and then sent my wife out on a 45 minute driving expedition, leaving me at home with the 3 kids, lol, but I digress. Then went to drive it 2 days later, same problem. Wouldn't start just clicks. So, Sunday, I put the battery charger on it again, and slow charged it for 8 hours. Tested the battery, it read strong. Went to start it today, nothing just clicks. So, I tried that a couple times, no luck, then just turned the key to position 2, waited a minute, and went to start it, it cranked and then fired up, no problem. That is the only way it will start now. Any thoughts? It doesn't sound like a battery issue to me, but is it? Thanks for any help.

Have you read my thread?

Same problem! Nothing wrong with the battery. There's something going on with the EWS. My car will be ok for a day or two and then nothing when you turn the key.

Fiddle about trying various things and then it starts.

I've had the starter and the EWS replaced and it was ok for a day or two then today - nothing!!!

I had read that, but it hasn't mattered if my car is locked or unlocked. For example, the car was locked this morning. I had the whole starting issue, but finally got it going, moved it around to the other side of the house for my wife, left it unlocked. She went to start it 2 hours later, and it wouldn't start, until I walked her through the whole pain in the butt starting procedure. She finally got it going. Took it to pick up our daughter, and the car wouldn't start. Then she messed with it, and messed with it and finally got it going.
