The M5 is almost completely ready now. There are some very very very minor tweaks to be done, but in fact the car is ready.

I replaced a whole bunch of smaller stuff (which adds up, but I like to do things right). New front inner wheel wells, new power steering lines, new fuel filter, new gearbox oil, new diff oil, new air filters, new MAFs, new O2 sensors, new everything...

The adjustable camber plates arrived, so we installed them. The Wiechers front strut brace is installed. The fan is removed, and an electric fan is installed. Wow, this last mod gives a much better throttle response, I didn't expect it to be that much of an improvement.

The car has been brought to Powerplus, for mapping the ECU. The previous dyno result was 378 HP, when I jut bought the car. We replaced pretty much every possible sensor and filter, we installed the Schrick cams, the SS headers, and we got rid of the fan. After some mapping work, we got a great result. I won't post the final result here, since I noticed before that there are quite some non-believers on the board, and I don't want to start the same discussion we had whe Richard posted his results. And we're not absolutely sure about the results anyway, since the dyno died during the last run.
But I can assure you guys, the result is really really nice. The throttle response is crazy, and the car pulls strong all the way through the revs. No dips, no nothing.
Rassi was at our garage today, and I took him for a small ride. He'll confirm what I wrote.

This is the car I want to drive for the next couple of years. I enjoyed my previous M5 for the last 4 years, and I'm absolutely positive I'll enjoy this one even more.

When the weather gets better, and the summer tyres are on, we'll do a comparison with an E60 M5. I have a few friends with an E60 M5 that can't wait to do the test.

You'll laugh... The electric fan comes from an Opel (don't know which model). For now, we work with a relais and a button, so I control it manually. This was a quick fix because I wanted to get the car ready for the dyno.
We'll add a temperature contact, which will turn the fan on in case the cooling water temperature gets above a certain temperature. I don't know yet what the perfect temperature would be, we'll start with 85°C.
When the temperature contact is installed, we'll keep the button anyway, it might be usefull to control the fan manually, in case I'd be pushing the car really hard in the summer.

Ok guys, I took some pictures. The car was not completely clean, it was just too cold... And it looks a bit funny with the winter wheels, but you get the idea.

Yep, absolutely confirmed! Apart from the fact that Frits is a very competent driver, the way this monster pulls just blew me away! Noise (make that music!), throttle-response, willingness to rev and sheer grunt was just unbelieveable!

Add to this the full leather interior (and I mean FULL, even the rear-shelf is covered!) and you just have one amazing car.

Congratulations Frits!
