Wheel damage!.....damn taxi!
Ah! I hit a curb today to avoid hitting some dumb *** taxi that cut me off real bad!! The damage is not that bad but I have to get it fixed. I think I am going to take off my current set (chrome AC type III), and put on my OEM wheels for the winter.
These guys in Texas (wheeltechnologies.com) claim to repair any kind of damage to the wheel (if repairable) in 24 hours.
Has anyone used them before? Any clue on what it will cost me to fix? The damage is no larger than a thumb nail (not deep) and the wheel has a chrome finish.
If you guys can recommend some place better, please let me know!!
A ding in my door and a scraped wheel all in 2 weeks.

don't know about in Texas, but up here in Northern California it recently cost me $275 a wheel to repair my OEM wheels for curb rash.
not deep but maybe a 3-4 inch long section on the rear wheel, and another even longer, say 6-7 inches on the front wheel.
i was quoted anywhere from $225 to $275 for the job, which was also a range from 2-3 days.

You seem to be really unlucky with the Beast based on your posts(dealers, dings)! Sorry to hear that.

I know how you feel! I had to get out of the way of an "ambulance" the other day and scraped my wheels. What is an "ambulance" you ask? Well, approaching an intersection I hear a siren going off and people stopping/pulling over. As I did the same I scraped my wheels while searching to see how to best get out of the way of the "ambulance". Turns out it was a business alarm going off close to the road that sounded exactly like an ambulance!!!! If I had been helping someone get to the hospital quicker it would not have been a big deal, but since it was a false alarm as far as the road was concerned I was pissed!!! I had been so careful with my wheels! Took a few deep breaths and told myself that it was just a car and enjoy it. I now view the wheels as something that will require a cosmetic replacement in a couple of years.
Of course, for you, you already had aftermarket wheels so it was worse, but I still feel your pain! Just take solice in the fact that we own the best sedan built in the history of the world!!

BAD *** LUCK!!
Yea, lady luck has been with another! Dealers, dings, etc...I just hope that it doesn't cost me an arm and a leg just because it's AC Schnitzer and because it's chrome. You can hardly see it but if I don't get it fixed the salt is just going to eat it right up. I shouldn't have them on in this weather to begin with!
I have been meaning to put my OEM wheels back on for the winter, I guess now is the right time to do it....perhaps get some winter tires as well.
Hey, it could have been my front end instad of the rim. I just hope I find someone that will do a good job.

Harry,
Sorry to hear about the damage - at least it wasn't worse. You are a brave man indeed to take the beast into Manhattan every day.
I'm looking forward to hearing about your repair experience. I don't have any curb rash yet, but I'm sure it is just a matter of time.
What sort of winter tires are you considering?

I have been told that the wheels are not repairable due to their chrome shadow finish. Supposedly, the paint can't be matched. When I damaged mine, I had it replaced. Beckers is supposed to be the cheapest.

The wheel that I damaged was not an OEM it was one of my chrome AC rims.
Bill, I'm not sure yet about the tires. I have been meaning to look into that but I have been short of time. I'll jump on the search engine a little later and do some research.
