          540 sport wheel for spare?

          can i use a 00 rear 540 sport wheel for a spare? will it fit in the back and the front w/out any problems or spacers?

          There is a good chance that it does, but I don't know for sure. The is an M5 TSB 360200 "Tires & Wheels - Applications" that sounds like it might answer your question but I haven't read it. Good Luck!

          AS long as it clears the brake calipers, spacers shouldn't be necessary. Also check the wheel bolt lengths to be sure they're similiar.

          It has been my understanding that there isn't a single OEM BMW wheel that will clear the brake caliper of an M5. I personally tried putting on the 540i standard 17.5 inch wheel, and it wasn't even close. The calipers for the M5 are huge. The BMW catalog also states that the 540i mixed parallel spoke wheel is available for "E-39 5-series except M5". However, one guy from the parts dept. said there is a SEPARATE p/n for a special sized mixed parallel spoke wheel that is designed for the M5. I did not look into that though.

          rezf, i run the bmw m style 66 (size 17") for the winter and they fit fine. they are a diff part #, but i'm sure they're the same wheel.
