I checked fluid etc and was just thinking its a broken sensor, when suddenly it started behaving normal again ?

OooooooK......
I had loosely checked the radiator but Im now thinking something was lodged. blocking it.
Ahh well. At least it tempered the frustration of finding the children have nicked my ******* badge again.
