shift knob removal/carbon fiber overlay??

Has anyone tried to have an illuminated shift knob (like the wood one below) overlayed in carbon fiber? For this to happen the wood piece would need to be removable and I'm not sure if that is possible.

Does anyone know how the wood cover is fitted--glued, pressue, etc?

I like the fact that the stock shift knobs are illuminated, so I figure that I have the following options for changing my bruyere club knob:

1) Buy the illuminated M5 leather shift knob ($260)
2) Remove mine and have it painted (black, grey, etc.) $50??
3) Remove mine and try to pull off the wood piece to have it either overlayed or a new cf piece fabricated.

I'm having my trim overlayed in carbon fiber so this is the last piece to the puzzle, so I'm open to all ideas.

Thanks,

Justin

Not sure they are designed to be taken apart. Check classifieds an all black leather one or a brushed aluminium one. They pop up from time to time for $120-$150.

I am skeptical on trying to disassmble it and do an overlay. As for the interior trim, doesnt someone sell carbon fibre trim pieces?

There are places that do carbon fiber overlays on interior trim, but the shift knobs are a different story. No company to my knowledge has an illuminated carbon fiber shift knob (overlayed or fabricated from a mold). If there is one, then hopefully someone can chime in.
