Is there a way to open trunk whilst battery dead??

Hi all,

I was able to unlock my ds door with the remote, attempted to start car and then all electronics shut down. No lights on dash, interior etc. Car cannot start. Hoping its just the battery and I need a tender according to the search button. (fingers crossed)

Question - my trunk will not currently open with the key in the trunk's keyhole. I want to get to the battery. Only ds front unlocked, the other three doors remain locked unfortunately. Any tricks or secrets to getting this open?

It was suggested that I have AAA come out and jump start the car, then open the trunk with the key fob.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Up.

1) The key should work with the trunk's keyhole; it needs to be turned farther than it appears. Use more pressure.

3) Open the front door (with the key) and use the trunk release button next to the hood release lever (which is not electronically controlled).

Or fold down rear seats and crawl into the trunk from there

or you can jump the car using the battery terminal at the front of the car on the engine.

And sometimes, the EWS can get unaligned from the DME when you are able to unlock the car but the engine fails to start due to a weak battery.

If that is the case, the car will have to be towed to the Stealer... I was told a trick to do it yourself as to it really working, I can NOT confirm as I have not had the chance to try it... But if you want to try it this is the procedure.
Once new or good battery is in vehicle. unlock drivers door and open ignition to position 2, Do Not start. Roll down drivers window, remove key from ignition, get out lock door and hold in lock position till the window rolls up.
Now as I stated, this was told to me by a BMW tech a few years ago after my 528 malfunctioned on start up for future reference. As to if it really works I can NOT confirm.
