I don't know, but it's sure seems like a cool car to me. for those that don't know it's a E46 M3, with the M5 engine, but it's tuned to 460 h.p., plus some other extras, like the M5 brakes, and M5 transmission.... I like the idea of a M5 coupe, which it practically becomes, but I don't really know if it's worth the $96,000 price tag that come along with it (That is the latest number I have heard, I faxed them today to find that out for sure) at one time I heard 120k and for that price I don't see why anyone would get it over something like a 996 tt. But that is just my opinion
I figure that I will have the only one in the united states, and if not, there may only be one or two others. I don't know for sure. I just think that a 4 door car is too much for someone of my age, even though I love my M5, I think that a M3 would be more my type of car??? That really isn't what I'm basing it on, and I don't even have a clue if I'm really going to try and get one, but it's always good to dream, and plan for the future. So I'm just wondering what some people think of it, I know that there have been some threads on it before, but not really anything in depth, and was just hoping for the input of the experts.
Thanks again everyone!!
I was impressed with BMW's attempt at a real sports car after all these years, I mean M3 CSL. Set to compete with Porsche GT3 and from what it looks, it's going to be one tough rival. It is a completely different car to Hartge, but as a track car I wonder which will be faster on the circuit?
For high speed cruising Hartge of course.
By the way I wouldn't be that fast to liken it to M5 coupe, because it isn't. No 3 series, with no matter which engine and options, is like 5 series. Whether you like it or not, 3 is 3 and 5 is 5. I mean ride comfort, sound insulation, interior size and decor, possible options, these things. If you find them to be in an excessive amount in M5 and you want just its' engine and more agility, then I guess the Hartge car is for you.

Let me know when you get confirmation on the price!!!!
I think it has the same 0-60 as the M3 and M5
Would be nice if it was under 4 secs!!!
VROOM!! VROOM!!!
I'm almost positive that 0-60 is completely traction limited...otherwise I would bet 0-60 is somewhere around 4.2-4.4, the car is 600 lbs lighter than the M5, and has 60 more h.p. and the Z8 does 0-60 in 4.5 so; if, and that is a big if, you can get it to hook up, hold on, because you are gonna go for a very fast ride.
I believe the cost can vary with the H50 depending on which platform you ask them to do the conversion on. They can start from a 318 to a M3.... of course if you use the M3 platform, it'll come with extras as opposed to the 318 like the M-variable differential thing and other options.... I remember there's a video somewhere on the board comparing the H50 with the regular M3 and an alpina tuned one... It certainly looks a lot harder to drive than the regular M3...

its just not the price- you have to ask how it gets serviced- at some point the car will become more expensive than a normal M3 because of all the custom work.
lets face it- most cars cost you money to own and this is just more so. If you can afford it the attraction is having a very unique car in a great looking package.
the video on the car is sometimes on speedvision on a show called motorvision. basically they called the alpina 3 series a stately gentleman, the M3 a toned athlete and the H50 a beast that requires total concentration, but if you are willing to provide that, then its a ton of fun.
If I have this video on my tivo, at some point in the near future I might be digitizing them.

There is basically no BMW warrante, it's really not much of a BMW product anymore, it's all BMW parts, but not exactly where they where meant to belong. So in a wordy way that was saying your local BMW dealer will be able to service it, but they will be charging you every cent. Hartge has a 2 year engine and drivetrain warrante unlimited miles, and 1 year on everything else, but that doesn't solve the problem of where in the US to you use that warrante?? I hope that help a little.
