M5 - Cooling The Car Down (Problem)

Hi,
As a new M5 owner, i seem to be suffering from cooling the car.

Over the last two days, i have driven the car for over 4 hours, part motorway and part road, however everytime i get caught in traffic, the water temperature rises to the red and the message is 'check coolant level'

Not sure what this is, as there seems to be plenty of water in the system and the oil level seems ok as well. however i have not understood - why the oil temperature is always to the right of the gauge indicating 150 whilst driving.

Could anyone tell me - if they have a similar problem?

well your thermostat is broken, i would guess.for the oil thing... no answer ,sorry
maybe try to unlock your cluster (do a search on how to unlock the cluster) and try the live data you can see.. maybe in best case its just the sensor who's broken.. but i doubt it.

dont wait to long to get this fixed or it will cost you tons off money..

Make sure the electric fan is coming on. On the highway, you should have enough air flow to cool the car, but in the city, both fans need to be working if it is warm outside.

Regards,
Jerry

You're most likely low on coolant since your car is saying coolant low. Without that message I'd say you're having a problem with your fans instead. Thermostats are built in such a way that they fail opened...not closed. They can fail closed, but it's rare. And if it was failed closed you'd overheat even at highway speeds.
Make darn sure your radiator and expansion tank are at the right levels...WHEN CAR IS COLD!!! Search DIY's or use a repair manual/owners manual to see how.
You could also start car and watch for the movement of one and then both fans as the car warms up.
Good luck!

P.S. Your oil is running hot because your collant is running hot. Fix cooling system and oil temp will follow.
