my almost a SUPERCAR SHOOTOUT

AWESOME WEEK - - monday at the 'Ring and TODAY our little version of a "almost Supercars shootout"

We had 13 cars, (all not pictured in attachments) - 2 E39 M5's, AMG E63, M3, 911, Maserati coupe, Z4, Dodge Hemi, Subaru WRX, E34 M5, Fiat Coupe, Mustang GT and a Audi TTS...

The Viper, Audi RS6, Shelby GT and new M3 that planned to come coudn't make it - maybe next time, if we do it again...

We had a 2 mile runway, so were able to try a range of things including of course rolling starts, as well as non rolling starts.

My 'ol M5 did real well, I actually managed to spank everyone except the Mustang - yea, I got the AMG E63 - mostly because he wasn't shifting the best in the beginning . The Mustang spanked everyone, but I think later the AMG E63 may have got him. The Mustang was supercharged with 450+hp...

The only problem we had was the other E39 M5 lost his clutch (probably why I edged him too...) - board member Andrew P's M5 (why he isn't in the group pic)... - - I felt bad for Andrew...

The biggest surprise of the day was the Audi TTS -

- this was a quick little car! - - I looked back and there he was, just a couple car lengths back hanging on real well...

I'll get all the pics and video together this week, if I have any interesting video to share, I'll post it...

All in all it was an AWESOME time , I highly recommend events like this for fun...

MarkQC,

Nice write up. I wonder how much of a difference the touring is compared to sedan.

The E63 AMG? ...if you mean as to the performance, I imagine it weighs a little more but how much impact with 500+ hp I have no idea... - - one thing I do know, it launches very fast from a dead stop.

It was an ALMOST supercar shootout - - certainly well below the Kelleners M6 league...
