lights on rev meter?

Iv done a search with no results.

The red lights that light up on the revometer and go out as the car warms up do not all go out on my 2001 car. are all these lights supposed to go out?

if so any ideas what may be the problem?

The majority of the lights go out except the last 2, the final one i think is the permanent red line but id have thought the others should all go out.

I know this is not the clearest post but i hope you understand.

No the last orange light stays on with the red light at 7000rpm being the limit.

Absolutely normal.

Redline is 6,800 RPM in 5th (direct drive) and 6,500 RPM in 6th. (Tach needle is usually a little slow in getting there.)

I would NEVER rely on the lights. I wait until the oil temp is close to normal before I begin to drive mine as BMW intended the car be driven.

Also, I would check the oil level at least once every two weeks. The oil level sensor actually doesn't measure the oil level. It measures temperature differences on a probe. Very sophisticated, but not too accurate.

+1--what jcl said. Water, Oil and drive train compnents should all be up to T° prior to running it hard.

Drive easily until everything is warmed.
