idle rpm

Hello all,

Just wanted to check to see if my idle mannerism is similar to other owners. I searched the forum, but couldn't really find anything that directly addresses my issue.

Turn on car - idles at 1000 rpm for about 90-120 seconds, then drops down to 500-600 rpm and stays there (until I pull away). Car does a bit of searching at the 1000 rpm mark, but sounds steady once it settles to 600 rpm.

Sound familiar? Any concerns?

Thx,

H

Sounds just like mine. The only time mine had problems was when it had a bad CPS. It would start up, go to 1000, then drop down to 500 and asecond after that, down to 400. This made the car "cough" back up to 500. This was precisely when the SES light would come on. After the CPS was replaced, back to normal.

Doesn't sound abnormal... If it surges (up & down rpms) then I personally would bleed the cooling system or check for air leaks... However what you are describing seems fine..
